KCL Greek Play
2023
Iphigeneia
28th to 30th June, various times
To celebrate 70 years of the KCL Greek Play and the 30th anniversary of Actors of Dionysus (a joint centenary celebration!) we are excited to announce that the King’s Greek Play 2023 (28-30 June 2023) will be a new retelling of Iphigeneia, drawing from the plays of Euripides and from the Oresteia by Aeschylus.
This year's play will examine the glorification of violence and conquest and the impact on those who suffer the consequences, rippling out across generations. Through a re-telling of Iphigeneia's story, we aim to ask -
who is 'the greater good' really for?
Location: Greenwood Theatre, London Bridge (SE1 3RA)
Evening performances: will be preceded by pre-show events featuring leading scholars; these are free to ticket-holders for the subsequent performance
