Hadrian's Wall for All

Classics for All celebrates the 1900th anniversary of Hadrian's Wall

I am very excited to be able to share with all our primary schools a fantastic opportunity to "walk" Hadrian's Wall, and learn about the Wall along the way.

As part of the Hadrian’s Wall 1900 Festival, we're launching 'Hadrian's Wall for All'. We're creating a new set of teaching resources for primary schools on Hadrian's Wall and launching our first ever sponsorship challenge: the Hadrian’s Wall Virtual Walk!

The aim is to walk the equivalent distance of the Hadrian’s Wall Path (84 miles) over the month of September, whether that is done via walking to school, going for walks in your local area, doing a walk as a class during lesson time - you can march, walk, run, cycle or even swim.  School pupils do not need to do the whole 84 miles individually, it can be done as a school or class effort, and you could cover the distance more than once.

If you would like to do it as a sponsored walk for Classics for All and raise money for the charity there is a platform by which you can do that.  Alternatively you can just do it with a simple sponsorship form like you might do for any other sponsored event at school.  This aspect is entirely optional, and there is no obligation for schools to raise any money at all.  The sponsorship challenge is for our donors rather than schools.

The other aspect available for schools is a set of two lessons about Hadrian's Wall and one of the forts along the Wall, as well as a map and other extra resources that can be used by schools to track your progress along the wall.

If you would like to find out more please go to our website and there are details on how to register your interest for this event and the resources.

If you have any questions please email me or Hannah Walsh (hannah@classicsforall.org.uk).
